Inspection Overview
Inspection is conducted before shipment for all orders. The scope and method of inspection depend on the order requirements, product type, and agreed quality level. Inspection is not a one-size-fits-all process; it is configured per order based on what was confirmed during the drawing review and order acknowledgment.
For standard catalog items, inspection covers dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and visual appearance. For custom parts by drawing, inspection follows the drawing requirements including special tolerances, coating verification, and documentation needs.
Inspection Equipment
Laser Interferometer
Surface flatness, wavefront error, and power irregularity measurement for polished surfaces.
Contact Profilometer
Surface roughness (Ra, Rz) and form accuracy measurement on curved and flat surfaces.
Optical Microscope
Surface quality inspection per MIL-PRF-13830B standards (scratch and dig assessment).
Spectrophotometer
Transmission and reflectance measurement for AR-coated and uncoated optics.
Standard Inspection Items
The following items are typically checked before shipment. Actual inspection scope is confirmed per order and may include additional or fewer items depending on buyer requirements.
| Inspection Item | Method | Typical Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | Caliper / micrometer | Per drawing tolerance |
| Surface Flatness | Laser interferometer | λ/4, λ/10 @ 632.8 nm |
| Surface Quality | Optical microscope | 40-20, 60-40, 80-50 |
| Surface Roughness | Contact profilometer | Ra ≤ 2 nm (polished) |
| Transmission | Spectrophotometer | Per coating specification |
| Visual Appearance | Visual inspection | No chips, cracks, contamination |
Shipment Documentation
Inspection reports and certificates are provided based on order requirements. Standard shipment includes a packing list. Inspection reports, material certificates, and coating test data are available upon request and should be specified during order confirmation.
Available Documents
- Packing list with item count, part numbers, and quantities.
- Dimensional inspection report (on request).
- Surface quality inspection record (on request).
- Coating test data: transmission curve (on request).
- Material certificate of conformance (on request).
Third-Party Inspection
If your order requires third-party inspection or specific inspection agency involvement, please specify during the order confirmation process. Arrangements can be coordinated with recognized inspection bodies for on-site or sample-based verification.
