Cleaning Process Overview
Infrared optical components are cleaned after final processing and before inspection. The cleaning process removes particulates, residues, and handling marks from surfaces without damaging coatings or substrates. Methods are selected based on material type, coating status, and part geometry.
Handling procedures are designed to prevent surface damage, contamination, and moisture exposure. Components are handled with appropriate tools and stored in controlled environments before packing.
Cleaning Methods
Ultrasonic Cleaning
For removing particulates and residues from uncoated substrates. Parameters adjusted by material type.
Solvent Cleaning
Selected solvents for removing organic residues without affecting AR or protective coatings.
Ionized Air Blow
For removing loose particulates before inspection and before placing in protective packaging.
Manual Wipe
For final touch-up of critical surfaces using lint-free materials and approved cleaning solutions.
Handling and Storage
Components are handled with gloves or appropriate tools to prevent fingerprint and oil contamination. Parts are not placed directly on hard surfaces. Soft, clean work surfaces and trays are used throughout the cleaning, inspection, and packing workflow.
Before packing, components are inspected for visible cleanliness. Parts that do not meet cleanliness standards are re-cleaned before proceeding to packing and shipment.
Packing and Shipment Preparation
Packing methods are selected based on component type, quantity, destination, and fragility. Common approaches include individual plastic tray packing, lens tissue wrapping, and custom foam inserts. Moisture-sensitive materials such as ZnSe may include desiccant packs.
Packing Options
- Individual plastic trays with protective covers for windows and lenses.
- Lens tissue wrapping for small parts and prisms.
- Custom foam inserts for irregular shapes and multi-part orders.
- Desiccant packs for moisture-sensitive materials (e.g., ZnSe).
- Double-wall corrugated boxes with cushioning for international shipment.
Special Packing Requirements
If your order requires specific packing standards (cleanroom bagging, vacuum sealing, custom labeling, or export documentation), please specify during the order confirmation process. Packing specifications can be confirmed in the drawing review or order acknowledgment stage.
